Trump announces $5 million 'gold card' sale for wealthy foreigners in the US.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the US will introduce a new “gold card” for wealthy foreigners, allowing them to live and work in the country and providing a potential pathway to citizenship in exchange for a $5 million payment.

“We’re going to be selling a gold card,” Trump stated from the Oval Office. “You have a green card. This is a gold card. The price for this card will be around $5 million, and it will offer green card privileges as well as a route to citizenship. Wealthy individuals will be able to enter our country by purchasing this card.”

Trump indicated that sales of the gold card will begin in approximately two weeks, with the potential for millions of such cards to be sold.

When asked if he would consider selling the cards to Russian oligarchs, Trump responded, “Yeah, possibly. I know some Russian oligarchs who are very nice people.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who was present with Trump, explained that the gold card would replace the current EB-5 immigrant investor visa program. The EB-5 program allows foreign investors to invest in US-based projects that generate jobs and, in return, they can apply for visas to immigrate to the US.

“They will, of course, undergo vetting,” Lutnick assured, “to ensure they are world-class global citizens.”
